Living – Programming Services
Programming Services seeks to develop a diversified program for the
Independent Living Community that focuses on the spiritual, emotional,
physical, social, intellectual and vocational needs and interests
of our residents. Residents are free to choose their own level of
involvement in the community. Our program reflects the wellness philosophy
of life.
Regularly scheduled weekly and monthly activities include: Vespers
and Bible Study, Body Recall Classes, Day Trips to Local Attractions,
Lunch and Supper Outings, Shopping/Errands Trips to Malls, Grocery
Stores, Banks, Post Office, etc., Bridge and Table Games, Evening
Concerts, a variety of resident-led clubs and much more!
New and continuing classes being offered this fall include: Strength
Training, a Walking Program, “Issues of Aging” –
a women’s support group, Watercolor Painting, Knitting, a Drama
Project, Tai Chi, Line Dancing and Aqua Aerobics held at the YMCA.
Annually, residents may choose to participate in the campus Pig Pickin’
- open to residents and staff, the Health & Wellness Fair, and
the Christmas Tea for residents, staff, Board members and community
friends of Givens.
Beyond the scheduled group activities, Givens Estates encourages individual
enrichment through use of our library, computer lab, greenhouse and
gardening areas, croquet field, shuffleboard court, horseshoe pit,
walking /hiking trails and on-campus volunteering opportunities.
