As you have probably already heard, Governor Cooper moved North Carolina to Phase 3 of reopening last Friday. Even at Phase 3 it is important to know that for older adults and at-risk persons, it is still safer to stay home as much as possible. The mask mandate is still in place and will likely remain in place for many months to come. Please continue to follow the safety basics of wearing a mask/face covering, maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet from others, and wash your hands frequently. Continue to limit your travel off campus and on-campus visitors. During the past two weeks we have had two team members and one health center resident test positive for the COVID-19 virus.
With the easing of restrictions there has been an associated increase in the number of cases of COVID-19 locally and across the State. The percentage of all Covid-19 tests performed in Buncombe County that are positive has risen from 2.3% two weeks ago to 4%.
If you are sick, being tested for Covid-19, have been in direct contact with someone being tested or think you have been exposed to someone infected with the virus, please stay home, and follow up with your doctor and Givens Estates for specific directions regarding your situation.
Givens Estates continues to evaluate the programs and services offered during this time where physical distancing and the wearing of masks is required. We are adding more small group programs, making certain public spaces available for resident groups of 10 or fewer following specific health guidelines, preparing for the opening of the Social Brew in November, evaluating housekeeping services, etc. We are also working to offer more options for scheduled visits with residents that live in Wood Assisted Living and Givens Estates Health Center. Please refer to your Gazette for details and updates regarding changes to life at Givens Estates.
Our community has been blessed to have few residents and team members positive with the virus and fully recovered. I often receive positive comments from others about how well our campus is doing and always respond that this outcome is the result of every resident, team member and visitor doing their part by following all safety measures diligently.I am grateful to everyone for the care taken to keep one another healthy and safe.
Have a nice weekend and enjoy the Fall Season that is upon us. Please contact us if you have questions or we can be of assistance.
